As a junior, Chambers/Wheeler Central's Taylor Peter put up First Team All-State numbers while leading the Renegades to the Class D2 Nebraska girls state basketball tournament.

Laurel O'Malley's club fell to Sterling 44-37 in last year's small school quarterfinal action. Peter, however, led the 21-5 Renegades with 19 points in the state tournament contest, completing a season in which the 5-10 junior posted averages of 20.1 points, 2.5 assists, 12.7 rebounds, 3.2 steals and 0.7 blocked shots.

Those averages, and Peter's tenacity for posting a double-double in 20 of 26 games a year ago, place the power forward's stat line at the top of the list for the Cornhusker State's returning players.

Just like Peter, Allison Weidner of Humphrey St. Francis earned first team all-state honors and led the 23-4 Flyers to the Class D2 girls state basketball tournament a year ago.

The 5-9 junior, who committed to play basketball at the University of Nebraska earlier this week, pushed Taylor to the brink for the top spot in this week's Top 10 after posting a do-a-lot-of-everything stat line that included averages of 19.8 points, 6.4 assists, 5.7 rebounds, 5.8 steals and 0.2 blocked shots.

Korynn Clason of Cambridge led this week's Top 10 members with a 23.5 point scoring average a year ago to claim the No. 3 spot while Leyton's Madelyn Watchorn and Alyssa Reardon of St. Edward round out the Top 5 in the No. 4 and No. 5 spots respectively.

Classes A, C1, D1 and D2 are all represented in this week's Top 10. But that does not mean that returning athletes in Classes B and C2 did not produce All-State caliber stat lines a year ago.

Omaha Mercy's Summer Mann led the way in Class B after averaging a double-double in scoring and rebounding a year ago while Kiernan Paulk of Wood River scored Class C2's top returning stat line after averaging 15 points a game a year ago.

In order to be considered for this week's Top 10, an athlete had to post an average of 15 points, 3.5 assists, 7.5 rebounds, 3.5 steals or 1.2 blocked shots. Several members of this week's Top 10 qualified in multiple categories.
