Softball Recap: Mt. Vernon Comes Up Short

After flying high against Newton on Saturday, Mt. Vernon came back down to earth. The Mustangs fell just short of the Center Point-Urbana Stormin' Pointers by a score of 8-7 on Monday. If the Mustangs were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Stormin' Pointers when the teams met back in July of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Mt. Vernon's loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Center Point-Urbana, their victory bumped their record up to 6-7.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Mt. Vernon beat the Stormin' Pointers by a score of 6-4 later that day.
