Softball Recap: Tatum Has No Trouble Against Sabine

Tatum won the last time they faced Sabine and things went their way on Saturday too. The Tatum Eagles put the hurt on the Sabine Cardinals with a sharp 14-3 win. Considering the Eagles have won five contests by more than nine runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Noa Cart made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in March of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Camryn Milam, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Jasmyne Taylor, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Tatum always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Tatum and bumps their season record up to 5-6. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Sabine, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Tatum and Sabine could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Tatum will take on Arp at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday down 362 places (639 vs. 277). Similarly, Sabine (ranked 1017th) will meet White Oak (ranked 417th) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
