Baseball Game Preview: Oneida Indians vs. Alcoa Tornadoes

For the second straight game, Oneida will face off against Alcoa. The Indians are taking a road trip to face off against the Tornadoes at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Oneida had been on a three-game streak of scoring at least ten runs, but Alcoa put an end to it on Tuesday. The Indians lost 14-0 to the Tornadoes. The defeat continues a trend for the Indians in their meetings with the Tornadoes: they've now lost five in a row.

For Alcoa's part, not much got past Myles Cox, who gave up just two hits and racked up 13 Ks to keep Oneida off the board. Cox has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Alcoa let Levi Spivey and Miles Watson run wild. Spivey scored two runs while going 3-for-4, while Watson scored four runs while going 2-for-3. Those four runs gave Watson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Bleau Kennedy, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Alcoa was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive matchups.

Alcoa has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Oneida, they now have a losing record of 6-7.
