The McCann Tech Hornets will square off against the Westfield Technical Academy Tigers at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. McCann Tech is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
McCann Tech made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Smith Vo-Tech, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Hornets fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 8-6 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Hornets have suffered since April 1, 2025.

Hayden Barrett put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off four hits. Barrett was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs. He has become a key player for McCann Tech: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 1-2 otherwise.
In other batting news, Kale Kondel and Nolan Booth did some serious damage despite the final result: Kondel went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run, while Booth went 1-for-4 with three RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Hunter Lancto, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Westfield Technical Academy fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against South Hadley on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of South Hadley by a score of 8-7. Westfield Technical Academy's loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.
Like McCann Tech, Westfield Technical Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Lucas Cummings. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Cummings was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Josh Elmer and Ben Harrington stepped up to the plate in a big way. Elmer went 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI, while Harrington went 2-for-5 with three RBI. Logan Csekovsky was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs.
McCann Tech's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Westfield Technical Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 6-2.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. McCann Tech has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .468. However, it's not like Westfield Technical Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .492.
