Softball Recap: Nine Straight Home Victories for Morningside Academy

Morningside Academy waltzed into their match on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They put the hurt on the Berean Christian Bulldogs with a sharp 11-1 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 17-1 last Tuesday.

Leigha Race made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gabbriella Oliver, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Reghan Wilbur, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Morningside Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .536. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Berean Christian only posted an OBP of .318.

Morningside Academy pushed their record up to 10-1 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Berean Christian, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season.

Morningside Academy didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 7-2 win against Calvary Chapel Academy on the 3rd. As for Berean Christian, they have also already played their next match, a 17-2 victory against Atlantic Christian on the 3rd.
