Baseball Recap: Gateway Sets Scoring Season-High Against San Domenico

Gateway was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 13-12 heartbreaker at the hands of the San Domenico Panthers. On the bright side, the 12- run performance marked the Gators' highest-scoring game to date.

Oscar Morales was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and four RBI. That home run was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Casey Volker, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-5.

Gateway's record is now 0-6. As for San Domenico, their win bumped their record up to 5-6.

Coming up, Gateway is taking a road trip to square off against Drew at 3:40 p.m. on Tuesday. The Dragons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.63 runs per game on average), something the Gators will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for San Domenico, they will welcome University at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Red Devils will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight.
