League recap: Quinn throws longest pass in league this season for Thurston

Fans got a thrill when Brendin Quinn and Robert Connor connected against Beaverton. The connection was good for 95 yards, the longest such play in 6A Special District 1 this season.

Crater was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from eighth to sixth in the league. Earlier in the week, the Comets triumphed over Forest Grove 41-39.

Thurston's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Quinn threw for 229 and 1 touchdown and Connor had 103 yards receiving. On the ground Roy Jackson chipped in 126 yards. Carson Cook helped Thurston's passing attack out by catching 6 balls for 60 yards.

The Colts' dynamic duo of Quinn and Connor proved tough for the Beavers to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Cook helped Thurston's passing attack out by catching 6 balls for 60 yards.

Johnny Contreras made the biggest impact on defense this week as Thurston fell to Beaverton. The 5-foot-9 junior recorded 1 fumble.

Crater's Ty Fox and Kory Bennett led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-2 quarterback Fox has thrown for 3,054 yards this season, while Bennett has 57 catches for 872 yards. North Medford's Nick Janakas leads the league in rushing yards with 1,019.

John Beck's team and the Vikings played the most contested game in 6A Special District 1 this week, with john Beck's team eventually emerging with a 41-39 victory. Fox threw for 189 yards and ran for 81 yards in the win.
