Softball Recap: Triton Central Picks Up Third Straight Win on the Road

Triton Central came out on top against Waldron on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive 13-run first inning. The Tigers never let the Mohawks get on the board and left with a 16-0 win. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by eight runs or more this season.

Lillian Fillippinie made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Fillippinie was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madison Collins, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with six RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jayda McKee, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

Triton Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .706. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .320 or higher in six consecutive contests.

Triton Central's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Waldron, they are on a 17-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Looking ahead, Triton Central will be playing at home against Greenfield-Central at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
