The Robinson Knights will face off against the Newsome Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Robinson has given up an average of 8.3 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Robinson is headed into Wednesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Thursday. They came up short against Sumner, falling 16-4.
Robinson saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isabella 'Bella' Villanti, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
Meanwhile, while Newsome put up some runs on Monday, the same can't be said for East Bay. The Wolves were the clear victors by a 9-0 margin over the Indians. Considering the Wolves have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Not much got past Haleigh Galvan, who gave up just four hits to keep East Bay off the board. Galvan has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Arriana N Williams and Sarai Nicholas did most of the damage at the plate: Williams got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Nicholas went 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double. That's the most hits Nicholas has posted since back in March. Bayler Grande was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Newsome always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Bay only posted an OBP of .259.
Newsome is on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 17 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Robinson, their loss dropped their record down to 7-13.
Robinson suffered a grim 11-0 defeat to Newsome in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can the Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
