Basketball Recap: Blake Loseke's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Clarkson/Leigh over Wakefield

Clarkson/Leigh was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They came up short against the Wakefield Trojans, falling 60-38.

Several Patriots players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Blake Loseke, who posted nine points. The dominant performance gave Loseke a new career-high in points. Jeryn Struebing also deserves some recognition as he pulled down his first board of the season.

Leading Wakefield to victory were Jacob Borg and Jacob Birkley. Borg went 8 of 13 en route to 17 points in addition to eight rebounds and six assists, while Birkley went 7 for 11 on his way to 17 points. Cael Johnson was another key player, putting up ten points.

Clarkson/Leigh's defeat dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Wakefield, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-7.

Clarkson/Leigh wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 59-55 loss against Wisner-Pilger on the 28th. As for Wakefield, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 44-41 win against Crofton on the 28th.
