The Pell City Panthers will take on the Central Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Pell City not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 28th (when they won 10-0). Everything went their way against Lincoln as they made off with a 14-6 win. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Golden Bears recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Pell City got a great performance from Ally Mosley as she tossed 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kherington Keith, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Grace Falls, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Pell City lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Central made easy work of Hatton on Thursday and carried off a 13-3 win. Considering the Wildcats have won 17 matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Paislee Ticer was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off 12 hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Mycah Beth Ray was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Devyn Green was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
Pell City's record now sits at 18-12-2. As for Central, their record is now 30-8.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Pell City hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .324. However, it's not like Central struggles in that department as they've averaged .420. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
