Softball Game Preview: Peninsula Panthers vs. Carson Colts

Peninsula is 1-8 against Carson since March of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Peninsula Panthers will challenge the Carson Colts at 3:15 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Peninsula was handed a 12-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They skirted past Banning 6-4.

The team relied heavily on Hailey Lang, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Alina Abukurah, who scored a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Carson took care of business in their home opener on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand North a 5-0 shutout. The Colts are really starting to get used to good results now that the team has won 11 straight dating back to last season.

Not much got past Giselle Pantoja, who gave up just two hits and racked up six Ks to keep North off the board.

On the hitting side, Rylee Gardner was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Peninsula came up short against Carson when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 13-8. Can Peninsula avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
