Football Recap: Yukon Has No Trouble Against Deer Creek

It's playoff time, and Yukon had no trouble coming through when it counted. They strolled past the Deer Creek Antlers with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 24-7. For the Millers, this counts as revenge for the 35-14 win the Antlers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2021.

Wyatt Jones had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 123 yards on only 14 carries, while also throwing for 121 yards and one touchdown. He is becoming a predictor of Yukon's success: when he posts at least 80 rushing yards the team is 3-1 (and 3-4 when he doesn't). Prince Shelburn helped out on the ground, rushing for 101 yards.

Yukon's run defense was locked in: Deer Creek could only muster 2.9 yards per carry. The team can thank Connor Cannon for the heroic effort on defense: he. Yukon didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 5.9.

Yukon now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Deer Creek, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.

Yukon will head out to challenge Owasso at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Rams will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last. Deer Creek does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
