Edgewood came tearing into Friday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 34.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Grand Saline Indians 72-70. This was a revenge game for the Bulldogs: when they faced off against the Indians back in January, they had to take a 66-60 defeat.

Despite the loss, Grand Saline saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kolton Prox went 5 of 7 to rack up 15 points in addition to five boards and four steals. Weston Akins was another key player, going 6 for 7 en route to 12 points and five rebounds.

Edgewood's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-12. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.6 points over those games. As for Grand Saline, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-9.

We've got a battle between Bulldogs coming up. Quitman will need to watch out since Edgewood has now posted at least 55 points in their last ten matches. As for Grand Saline, they will host Malakoff at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Malakoff will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Grand Saline surely won't give up without a fight.
