Softball Game Preview: United Golden Eagles vs. McDonald Blue Devils

United has won three straight games at home, while McDonald has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Monday. The Golden Eagles will host the Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m.

United made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Beaver Local, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Golden Eagles fell just short of the Beavers by a score of 3-1 on Friday. The Golden Eagles' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, while McDonald put up some runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Kirtland. The Blue Devils put the hurt on the Hornets with a sharp 10-0 win. With that victory, the Blue Devils brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Aubrey Evans made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. Evans was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Gianna Mancini was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Miley Titus was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

McDonald always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kirtland only posted an OBP of .273.

McDonald's win bumped their record up to 13-5. As for United, their loss dropped their record down to 20-7.
