Softball Recap: Rockford East Takes a Loss

Rockford East extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 24 on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 0-2 in the process. They came up short against the Boylan Catholic Titans, falling 21-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the E-Rabs of the 16-8 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

As for Boylan Catholic, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 6-6. The result was nothing new for the Titans, who have now won five matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

For Boylan Catholic's part, Ari Ousley and Dez Moore made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Ousley pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Moore tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. At the plate, Ousley went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one triple, while Moore went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three hits gave Ousley a new career-high.

In other batting news, Boylan Catholic got a massive performance out of Sophia Banks, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI and one triple. Those five RBI gave Banks a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Maddy Kiley, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Rockford East is set to take on their familiar foe Belvidere at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Boylan Catholic will face off against rival Belvidere North at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
