Basketball Recap: Peoria Takes a Loss

After flying high against Westview last Tuesday, Peoria came back down to earth. The Peoria Panthers took a 53-35 bruising from the Agua Fria Owls on Wednesday. The Panthers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Owls earlier this season, when they won 54-32.

Agua Fria had a senior duo take command as Saleen Rios went 8-for-17 en route to 18 points and four steals and Genesis Rios went 7-for-11 to rack up 18 points. Genesis continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Janelle Smith was another key player, putting up six points and five boards.

Peoria's defeat dropped their record down to 14-6. As for Agua Fria, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-10 record this season.

As of now, neither Peoria nor Agua Fria have any future games scheduled.
