Basketball Recap: East Liverpool Christian Starts off Right with Win over Jefferson County Christian

East Liverpool Christian had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Jefferson County Christian Royals, sneaking past 51-49. The win was some much needed relief for East Liverpool Christian as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak dating back to last season.

When it comes to explaining why Jefferson County Christian lost, don't look at Seth Gum. Despite the final result, he went 8 of 13 on his way to 21 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave Gum a new career-high in points. Mark Jenkins was another key player, putting up ten points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals.

Jefferson County Christian's defeat ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-5.

East Liverpool Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Jefferson County Christian, they will venture away from home to take on Plants and Pillars HomeSchool at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
