Softball Recap: Menominee Comes Up Short

Menominee extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 3-8. They came up short against the Kingsford Fliwers, falling 8-2. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Maroons of the 10-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

As for Kingsford, their win bumped their record up to 7-5. The result was nothing new for the Fliwers, who have now won five games by six runs or more so far this season.

For Kingsford's part, Mya Brunswick spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up 15 Ks. Brunswick has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Grace Rice, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Karly Trevillian was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Menominee will square off against Marquette at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Kingsford, they will face off against Gaylord at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
