Basketball Game Preview: Culver City Centaurs vs. Leuzinger Olympians

The Culver City Centaurs will take on the Leuzinger Olympians at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. Both are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Culver City is headed into the contest having just posted their biggest win since December 20, 2024 on Thursday. They blew past Hawthorne 86-52. Given the Centaurs' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 59th, while the Cougars are ranked 636th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Leuzinger on Thursday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Lawndale out of the water with an 80-49 final score. The Olympians have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 20 points or more this season.

Leuzinger had a senior duo take command as Joshua Garland dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten boards and Malachi Knight dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Garland's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Aiden Mcintyre was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 11 points and nine assists.

Leuzinger is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 21-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.7 points per game. As for Culver City, their victory bumped their record up to 21-5.
