5A East Metro recap Sept. 26, 2012
Thornton extended the longest winning streak in 5A East Metro this week by beating Aurora Central, 32-14. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
Brighton was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to second in the league. The Bulldogs beat Boulder 42-30 earlier in the week.
Eddie Franco was the best wideout in the league this week as Northglenn fell to Rangeview. Franco tallied seven receptions for 156 yards. Alex Wedel helped Northglenn's passing attack out by catching six balls for 73 yards.
Ethan Trujillo put up the best numbers through the air as Brighton beat the Panthers. He finished with 21 completions for 269 yards and three touchdowns. Trujillo's favorite target this week was Tabor Collin, who caught six passes for 119 yards.
Jordan Radebaugh provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Norsemen lost to the Raiders. He completed 22 passes for 297 yards and one touchdown and also ran for 24 yards.
Keynan Huguley was the most productive running back in 5A East Metro this week. In 25 carries, he ran for 159 yards as Thornton lost to Rangeview. Teammate Demitri Montour added to the ground attack by rushing for 101 yards.
6-foot-0 quarterback Trujillo of Pat Sandoval's team is the league leader in passing yards this season with 801. He has also thrown seven touchdowns. On the ground, Westminster's Patrick Wilson has rushed for 815 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Franco. The Northglenn star has 16 catches for 324 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Wolves take on the Bulldogs. Westminster is in third place, while Brighton is in second place.
The Bulldogs led the league in scoring this week after putting up 42 points on Boulder. Trujillo ran for 18 yards in the win.
