Baseball Recap: Chaparral Has No Trouble Against Kofa

Chaparral picked up another tournament win on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 12-4 margin over the Kofa Kings. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Firebirds.

Brock Little looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three).

At the plate, Anders Norgaard and Bo Shuba did most of the damage at the plate: Norgaard got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run and one double, while Shuba went 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Gavin Mesa, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two runs.

Chaparral always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kofa only posted an OBP of .222.

Chaparral now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Kofa, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Coming up, Chaparral will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Hamilton at 11:00 a.m. As for Kofa, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Brophy College Prep at 3:45 p.m. on Monday.
