Baseball Game Preview: Spaulding Red Raiders vs. Manchester Memorial Crusaders

The Spaulding Red Raiders will take on the Manchester Memorial Crusaders at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Spaulding will be strutting in after a victory while Manchester Memorial will be coming in after a loss.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Spaulding turned things around against Manchester Central on Monday. They walked away with a 7-3 win over the Little Green.

Owen Nesbitt made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Spaulding is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 1-6-1 otherwise. Nesbitt was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Michael Jeffrey, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Colby Lambert also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.

Meanwhile, Manchester Memorial was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of Timberlane.

Manchester Memorial's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Spaulding, their victory bumped their record up to 4-6-1.

Spaulding beat Manchester Memorial 9-5 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Red Raiders repeat their success, or do the Crusaders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
