Basketball Recap: Farragut Comes Up Short

Farragut was the 48-18 winner over Wells when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Farragut Admirals had to suffer through a 43-9 loss at the hands of the Wells Raiders. While losing is never fun, the Admirals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 648th, while the Raiders are ranked 229th).

Wells' win on Monday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ashanti Clark, who dropped a triple-double on 26 points, 11 rebounds, and ten steals. Clark's evening made it nine games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabrielle Marshall, who posted 12 points in addition to eight boards and eight steals.

Farragut dropped their record down to 3-10 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Wells, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-2.

Farragut and Wells' offenses will be put to the test in their next games. Farragut will take on Clemente at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, a team that's only allowed 20 points per game. Both have allowed few points on average, (Farragut: 29.8, Wells: 28.8) so any points scored will be well earned. Similarly, Wells and Chicago Sullivan (who has only given up 25.3 points per game) will meet at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
