Soccer Game Preview: Ponte Vedra vs. Creekside

The Ponte Vedra Sharks will take on the Creekside Knights in a holiday battle at at 7:20 p.m. on Thursday. Ponte Vedra is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.2 goals per game this season.

Ponte Vedra is headed into the match without a loss and will look to keep things rolling. They walked away with a 4-2 win over Fleming Island on Tuesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Sharks needed considering they were shutout in their previous contest.

They hit Fleming Island with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Jenny Dearie, Lila Jones, Izzy Whitaker, and Grace Raymond.

Meanwhile, Creekside faced Bartram Trail in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. Creekside's defense stepped up to hand Bartram Trail a 1-0 shutout. Give the Knights' defense some credit: that's the team's fifth straight shutout.

Creekside's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-0-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 25 goals over those five games. As for Ponte Vedra, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-0-2 record this season.

Ponte Vedra skirted past Creekside 2-1 in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. Will Ponte Vedra repeat their success, or does Creekside have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
