Softball Recap: Manatee Takes a Loss

Manatee was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They took a 10-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hardee Wildcats. The Hurricanes were not able to make up for their loss to the Wildcats from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Baelee Garland and Jenna Caldwell stepped up to the plate in a big way. Garland scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3, while Caldwell scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave Caldwell a new career-high.

Manatee's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Hardee, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Manatee will take on Riverview Sarasota at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hardee, they will challenge Fort Meade at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hardee's pitchers better be ready for this one: Fort Meade has averaged an impressive 9.2 runs per game this season.
