Recap: North DeSoto Griffins vs. Iowa Yellowjackets
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the North DeSoto Griffins had no problem doing just that on Friday. Everything went their way against the Yellowjackets as they made off with a 45-21 victory. The victory was nothing new for North DeSoto as they're now sitting on 11 straight.
North DeSoto found their leader in underclassman Luke Delafield, who threw for 278 yards and four touchdowns while completing 81% of his passes. Delafield hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Cory, who picked up 112 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
North DeSoto's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.3 points per game. As for Iowa, their loss dropped their record down to 9-4.
North DeSoto will be playing at home against Opelousas at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Louisiana (Opelousas is ranked 28th, while North DeSoto is ranked 33rd). Iowa does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
