Volleyball Recap: Lyons Lions vs. Wiggins Tigers

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Lyons can now relate to. They fell just short of the Wiggins Tigers by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Lions of the 3-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2017.

Lyons took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-15, 21-25, 25-20, 15-13.

Annabelle Hay paced Lyons' offense, picking up 26 kills. Hay got some help from Scarlet Voss and her 40 assists. Finally, Michaela Coleman kept Lyons' defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.

Saria Hawkins had a dynamite game for Wiggins, getting 21 digs.

Lyons' defeat dropped their record down to 22-4. As for Wiggins, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-9.

Lyons has already played their next game, a 3-1 victory against Sanford on the 15th. As for Wiggins, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-1 loss against Sedgwick County on the 15th.
