Softball Recap: Loogootee Wins Going Away Against Shoals

Loogootee had lost three games at home, but after bumping their record up to 5-15 on Saturday that streak is in the rearview. They blew past the Shoals Jug Rox 11-1. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Lions also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

Jocelynn Sims made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (four). She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.

In other batting news, Brynn Lengacher was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Breanna Courter, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one double.

Loogootee was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Shoals only posted a batting average of .222.

As for Shoals, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12. That's two games in a row now that they have lost by exactly ten runs.

On Shoals' side, they saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abbi Rollins, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles.

Coming up, Loogootee is taking a road trip to challenge South Knox at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Shoals, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Orleans at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
