 If the Albemarle School Colts were riding high  off their  62-19 takedown of the Kerr-Vance Academy Spartans last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Albemarle School took a  55-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Crossroads Christian on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Albemarle School can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage  in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings  (they are ranked 371st, while Crossroads Christian is ranked 158th).
 Albemarle School's  defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of  Braelyne Brewer, who  scored 14 points along with eight  rebounds and two  steals, and  Madelyn Delosreyes who  scored 17 points along with six  rebounds and four  steals. Delosreyes is on a roll when it comes to  steals, as she's  now  grabbed three or more in the last 15 games she's  played.
 Crossroads Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but  Elyssa Phillps led the charge by  scoring 25 points along with six  rebounds and four  steals. Phillps also  posted two  blocks for the first time this season.  Leanna Wimsatt was another key contributor,  scoring 20 points along with six  steals.
 Albemarle School has  traveled a rocky road recently having  lost seven of their last nine contests,  which put a noticeable dent in their 11-16 record  this season. As for Crossroads Christian, they pushed their record up to 16-5 with that  win, which was their third straight  at home.
 Albemarle School does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Crossroads Christian, they will head out on the road to  take on  Ridgecroft at 2:00  p.m.  on Saturday. Ridgecroft will roll in looking for their  21st straight  victory, something Crossroads Christian surely won't give up without a fight.
