Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Alexa Cervantes and Gianna Gonzalez Lead Torres to Victory

Torres barely beat Sunnyside the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Toros blew past the Wildcats 3-0 on Thursday. The Toros haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Torres never let Sunnyside on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-22, 25-10.

Leading Torres to victory were Gianna Gonzalez and Alexa Cervantes. Gonzalez had 17 digs and two assists, while Cervantes had 18 assists and three digs. Those 18 assists gave Cervantes a new career-high.

Torres now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Sunnyside, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four matches and leaves them with a 6-17-2 record.
