Ventura is 2-8 against San Marcos since May of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Cougars will be playing in front of their home fans against the Royals at 3:30 p.m. Ventura is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.

Last Tuesday, Ventura didn't have quite enough to beat Grace and fell 5-3. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Makayla Halley made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Brooklynn Bishop also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Meanwhile, San Marcos came up short against Dos Pueblos on Wednesday, falling 12-2.

Kayla Aguilar was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and one double.

San Marcos has also been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. As for Ventura, their loss dropped their record down to 14-5.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Ventura hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like San Marcos struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.

Ventura skirted past San Marcos 3-2 when the teams last played back in March. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Royals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
