Football Recap: Marion Warriors vs. Conway Springs Cardinals

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Marion can now relate to. They lost to the Conway Springs Cardinals on the road by a 21-6 margin on Friday. The Warriors were red-hot offensively headed into the contest (they scored no less than 31 points in the three games prior) but the Cardinals' defense proved too tough.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Isaac Winter and Cade Howell. Winter rushed for 131 yards and two touchdowns while Howell rushed for 57 yards and a touchdown. An impressive showing, but Howell really ramped things up playing D: he picked up a sack and made five total tackles.

Marion's loss ended a nine-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 6-3. As for Conway Springs, the victory for them keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.

As of now, neither Marion nor Conway Springs have any future games scheduled.
