Basketball Recap: Boardman Sets Scoring Season-High Against Chaney

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Boardman). They walked away with a 60-52 win over the Chaney Cowboys on Wednesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Spartans also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2022.

Boardman got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Sarah Bero out in front who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 16 boards. The dominant performance gave Bero a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Ava Freeborough, who went 6 of 11 on her way to 20 points.

Boardman's record now sits at 2-3. As for Chaney, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-1.

Boardman will take on Aurora in a holiday battle at 7:00 p.m. on Monday at. As for Chaney, they will host Ursuline at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Chaney is facing Ursuline at the right time seeing as Ursuline is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
