Baseball Recap: Fisher Picks Up Seventh Straight Win at Home

Fisher won against Maurepas last Saturday with 12 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Fisher Gators beat the Benjamin Franklin Falcons by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 12-2. Considering the Gators have won nine games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Haiden Martin made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off eight hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Charles Shamp, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. That home run was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Peyton Leblanc, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Fisher pushed their record up to 11-3-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Benjamin Franklin, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.

Fisher will venture away from home to challenge Salmen at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Benjamin Franklin, they will take on Frederick A. Douglass at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Frederick A. Douglass' favor is that they have posted at least ten runs every time they've taken the field this season.
