Baseball Recap: Taylorville Comes Up Short

Taylorville was the 5-2 winner over Warrensburg-Latham when they last played one another back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Tornadoes fell just short of the Cardinals by a score of 8-7 on Thursday. The Tornadoes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Maxx Grieme made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Kason Pembroke also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Taylorville's loss dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Warrensburg-Latham, the victory (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 15-1.

Coming up, Taylorville will face off against Lincoln at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Railsplitters have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.19 runs per game on average), something the Tornadoes will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Warrensburg-Latham, they will challenge Shelbyville at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
