Baseball Recap: Streamwood's Loss Ends Three-Game Winning Streak at Home

Streamwood dropped their record down to 13-14 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They fell 5-2 to the South Elgin Storm. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Storm this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-0 on Monday.

As for South Elgin, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 18-9. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games.

For South Elgin's part, Zacharia Barkho spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up 12 Ks. Barkho has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Connor Lund, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. Sam Cutinello was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Streamwood will welcome Elmwood Park at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for South Elgin, they will be playing at home against Riverside-Brookfield at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in the Storm's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while the Bulldogs have been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
