Basketball Recap: John Paul II Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

John Paul II had won three straight games and Lauren Majorkiewicz did her part to make it four on Wednesday. The John Paul II Golden Warrriors enjoyed a cozy 57-43 win over the Cross Stingrays thanks in part to Majorkiewicz, who went 7 for 16 en route to 22 points and four steals. Her evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Camryn Michael, who posted five points and nine rebounds. That's the most points she has posted since back in November of 2023.

Cross lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Lexann Maldonado, who dropped a double-double on 13 boards and ten blocks. Cross is 12-5 when Maldonado posts three or more blocks, but 2-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Ryan Mayers, who earned 12 points.

John Paul II's victory bumped their record up to 16-4. As for Cross, they moved to 14-10 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

John Paul II and Cross should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings. John Paul II will face off against Hilton Head Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday up 118 places (46 vs. 164). John Paul II is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.3 points per game this season. Similarly, Cross (ranked 104th) will meet Holly Hill Academy (ranked 259th) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
