Baseball Game Preview: Temecula Valley Golden Bears vs. Beaumont Cougars

The Temecula Valley Golden Bears will head out to square off against the Beaumont Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Temecula Valley has three straight wins, Beaumont has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Temecula Valley's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed last Monday. They had just enough and edged out Brawley 1-0.

Grayson Martin and Stone Tucker dominated on the mound. Martin didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched, while Tucker pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits Tucker has allowed since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Temecula Valley's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Chase Hilt, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that Hilt hit this season. Another was Isiah Rauseo, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Beaumont's offense. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Coachella Valley on Monday. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Cougars were not able to get on the board.

Temecula Valley pushed their record up to 3-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Beaumont, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.

Beaumont's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Temecula Valley has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Beaumont, though, as they've been averaging only 4 strikeouts. Will Temecula Valley keep running through batters, or will Beaumont buck the trend?

Temecula Valley beat Beaumont 6-3 in their previous meeting back in March of 2018. Will Temecula Valley repeat their success, or does Beaumont have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
