Football Recap: SA Roosevelt Skates Past LEE with Ease

SA Roosevelt's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 44-7 win over the LEE Volunteers. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 23-0.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead SA Roosevelt to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ernest Smith, who rushed for 72 yards and three TDs on only eight carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Lamarque Mackey, who rushed for 89 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only ten carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: SA Roosevelt was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 228 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 210 rushing yards in four consecutive games.

SA Roosevelt's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. J'Anthonie Ruiz was especially locked on to LEE's QB and sacked him twice.

When it comes to explaining why LEE lost, don't look at Zachary Talamantes. Despite the final result, he rushed for 69 yards and one score. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 72 yards.

SA Roosevelt's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for LEE, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

SA Roosevelt didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 41-27 win against Churchill on the 17th. As for LEE, they have also already played their next matchup, a 42-0 defeat against Reagan on the 17th.
