Baseball Game Preview: Grant Park Dragons vs. Kankakee Kays

Grant Park hasn't had much luck against Kankakee recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Dragons will be playing in front of their home fans against the Kays at 11:00 a.m. Grant Park has given up an average of 8.9 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Grant Park came up short against Beecher on Thursday, falling 12-2. The Dragons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Grant Park saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brayden Heldt, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Kankakee). They never let Thornton get on the board and left with a 19-0 win on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Kays considering their one-run performance the game before.

Jacob Vinardi looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk).

At the plate, Jay'Den Jones and Bryce Deany did most of the damage at the plate: Jones got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Deany scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Alexander Grill, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.

Grant Park now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Kankakee, their victory bumped their record up to 2-5.
