Basketball Recap: South Point Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

South Point and Erwin squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but South Point had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Erwin Warriors by a score of 45-43. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Red Raiders have suffered since January 14th.

When it comes to explaining why South Point lost, don't look at Amya Graham. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 19 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 44.2% of South Point's points, marking the third time in a row Graham has posted more than a third of the team's points.

Even though they lost, South Point was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. This was only their fifth loss (out of 22 games) when they've passed the ball that well.

This is the second loss in a row for South Point and nudges their season record down to 18-8. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only 1.5 points. As for Erwin, their victory bumped their record up to 19-7.

South Point does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Erwin, they will face off against North Lincoln at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. North Lincoln knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 26 matchups -- so hopefully Erwin likes a good challenge.
