Softball Recap: Swain County Has No Trouble Against Cherokee

Swain County's game on April 8th was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They put the hurt on the Cherokee Braves with a sharp 15-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Maroon Devils, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Faith Woodard, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Hadley Shuler was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Swain County lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in March.

Swain County pushed their record up to 13-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Cherokee, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Swain County beat the Braves by a score of 15-1 later that day.
