Softball Game Preview: Clarkstown North Rams vs. Port Chester Rams

Clarkstown North will venture away from home to take on Port Chester at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Clarkstown North is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 15 runs last Wednesday, they were much more limited against Tappan Zee on Wednesday. They came up short against the Dutchmen, falling 8-1. The Rams haven't had much luck with the Dutchmen recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Siena DeCicco made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 3-for-4. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season.

Meanwhile, Port Chester got the win against Lincoln on Friday by a conclusive 18-9. The victory continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Lancers: they've now won four in a row.

The team relied heavily on Melina Morban, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.5 stolen bases per game. Another player making a difference was Heidi Gonzalez, who scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Port Chester was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .514. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .429 or higher in three consecutive games.

Clarkstown North's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Port Chester, the win also got them back to even at 2-2.
