Baseball Recap: Sierra Beats Riverdale for Their Sixth Straight Win

Sierra waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They blew past the Riverdale Cowboys 9-2. The Chieftains have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Cowboys, too.

Daniel Blue made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Sierra let Brayden Hallman and Wyatt Young run wild. Hallman scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Young scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Zack Thiele also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.

Sierra pushed their record up to 8-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 13 hits in those games compared to only 5.57 in the others. As for Riverdale, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.

Looking ahead, Sierra will head out on the road to square off against Caruthers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Riverdale, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Laton at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
