Softball Recap: Estancia Extends Road Winning Streak to Ten

Estancia never let their opponents score on Thursday. Everything went their way against the McCurdy Bobcats as the Estancia Bears made off with a 23-0 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Bears, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Jhenna Valencia was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in walks (zero). She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Estancia let Lucia Chavez and Peyton Looper run wild. Chavez went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Looper scored four runs and stole Three bases. while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance gave Chavez a new career-high in RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Molli Garcia, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Estancia's win was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 13.6 runs. As for McCurdy, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Estancia will take on Mora in a tournament on Friday. As for McCurdy, a feisty cat fight will be fought as McCurdy Bobcats face off against Pecos Panthers at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
