Baseball Recap: Murphysboro Takes a Loss

Murphysboro lost against Monticello back in March of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Murphysboro lost 15-2 to Monticello. The match marked the Red Devils' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Shakur Karg made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-2. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Reece Mileur also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Murphysboro and nudges their season record down to 3-2. Monticello has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Coincidentally, Murphysboro and Monticello will both be playing Waterloo the next time they take the field. Monticello will head out to face Waterloo at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, while Murphysboro will play them later in the day, at 2:00 p.m.
