Baseball Recap: Cocoa Sets Scoring Season-High Against Brevard HEAT

Cocoa was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 23rd straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 22-8 to the Brevard HEAT Firehawks. One positive for the Tigers, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Travis Taylor and Rayden Smith did some serious damage despite the final result: Taylor scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Smith went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. The dominant performance gave Smith a new career-high in RBI. Jackson Brock also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Cocoa's record is now 0-9. As for Brevard HEAT, the victory snapped their losing streak at seven games and leaves them with a 2-8 record.

Coming up, Cocoa will take on Astronaut at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Cocoa has given up an average of 22.4 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Brevard HEAT, they will square off against Calvary Chapel Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
