Softball Recap: Steilacoom Sentinels vs. Orting Cardinals
Steilacoom extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping their season record down to 2-14 in the process. They came up short against the Orting Cardinals, falling 24-1. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Sentinels couldn't push the score so high this time.
Steilacoom saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Savannah Lingenfelter, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
As for Orting, the win got them back to even at 8-8-1. The victory continues a trend for them in their matchups with Steilacoom: they've now won nine in a row.
On Orting's side, Kathryn Prest made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). Prest was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madalynn Halte, who got on base in all six of her plate appearances with six RBI, four runs, and one triple. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Taryn Janosik, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one double.
